A train-the-trainers activity has been organised on the subject, thus bringing this European project to a end.
From 10 to 14 February in Mombasa (Kenya), more than thirty government officials from Kenya, Somalia and Djibouti participated in this capacity building activity. The objective was to provide them with tools to lead digital transformation processes in their respective ministries.
Digital change management is key to the modernisation of public administration. It is not only about developing and implementing new technologies, but also about ensuring their effective and sustainable adoption, thus maximising the benefits of digitisation. This training programme has addressed strategies for overcoming resistance, fostering a culture of innovation and ensuring that digital reforms generate lasting impact.
The Train-the-Trainers approach ensures the sustainability of the intervention, as it empowers participants to train others within their administrations. In this way, the knowledge acquired is not only replicated, but dynamically adapted to the changing needs of each country. This allows administrations not to rely exclusively on external assistance, but to develop internal capacities to lead their own digital transformation in the short, medium and long term.
This activity is part of the Digital Governance and Cybersecurity Initiative for the Horn of Africa (IDGC) project, funded by the European Union and with Germany, Spain and France as implementing countries. With this last session in Mombasa, FIIAPP reinforces its commitment to institutional strengthening in the region, promoting a model of sustainable digital change rooted in the Horn of Africa’s own governmental structures.
This activity represents the closing of the project, which started in 2021 and culminates with more than 300 trained professionals from different profiles of the administrations of Kenya, Somalia and Djibouti over twelve trainings. It is expected that the catalytic effect of this last training of trainers will multiply the beneficiaries of the knowledge imparted over the coming months.
