The technical study visit ‘Strengthening the coordination and management system for climate emergencies in Latin America and the Caribbean’ aims to strengthen the coordination and management systems for climate emergencies in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the ultimate goal of favouring the development of regional mechanisms for institutional strengthening, financing of investment needs, public-private collaboration, and the application and adaptation of existing technologies and innovation.
The study visit took place from 17 to 21 March 2025 in the cities of Madrid, Toledo and Torrejón de Ardoz. During this week, participants visited key Spanish entities to exchange experiences and best practices in the management and coordination of climate emergencies.
This visit aims to strengthen climate emergency management in Latin America and the Caribbean by training officials, promoting regional cooperation and adopting innovative technologies. It will focus on improving disaster warning, preparedness and response processes, understanding inter-regional cooperation mechanisms according to Spanish protocols, and providing inputs for a Regional Platform for Risk Reduction and Disaster Response.
